Billie x Co-op Live: Turning Up the Volume on Sustainability
When Billie Eilish brought her four-night residency to Co-op Live, it wasn’t just about music, it was about driving meaningful change. Together, we turned one of the world’s most sustainable live arenas into an innovative space for fans, proving that you can have an unforgettable night while looking after the planet.
Here’s how we did it:
Billie’s Plant-Based Takeover: Fans Ate It Up
Co-op Live went fully plant-based for not one but for all four shows, a bold move that fans devoured! The star of the menu? The Billie Burrito. Packed with roasted veggies, seasoned rice, plant-based mince and more, it proved a real sell-out. If you fancied something sweet, our decadent vegan cookies proved a HIT! And we won’t forget out mushroom specials, thanks to a collaboration with Manchester's homegrown FungALL, who supplied the delicious, locally-grown fungi that stole the show – supported of course by our official charity partner, The Co-op Foundation.
Plant-based dining on this scale significantly reduced the event’s carbon footprint and showed just how good sustainability can taste.
Sustainable Travel for the Win
Single-occupancy car journeys? Not on our watch. We organised a fleet of dedicated buses to ferry fans to and from the city centre, cutting down on congestion, emissions, and stress. This travel initiative alone mitigated a substantial chunk of carbon, making each gig greener than the last.
Refill, Not Landfill: Smarter Water Solutions
We kept everyone hydrated the sustainable way, with multiple drinking fountains throughout the arena and reusable cups for every drink served. Fans could refill as much as they wanted without unnecessary plastic waste.
Pledge for the Planet And Win Big
Sustainability starts with small changes. Fans at each show were invited to sign our Vegan Meal Pledge, committing to one plant-based meal a day. Those who took the pledge were entered into a draw to win none other than Billie’s personal guitar, proving that even the smallest choices can have a big impact.
Merch That Doesn’t Cost the Earth
Even the merchandise was planet-friendly! Every item was fully recyclable, allowing fans to show love for Billie and the planet at the same time.
Supporting Sustainability Behind the Curtain
In keeping with the tour and venue’s strong sustainability mission, we provided a fully plant-based menu for back-of-house, including treats for the crew. These carefully selected options ensured minimal environmetal impact while still delivering great taste and energy.
we tested our menu items on fans to get their honest opinions, and here’s what they thought... 👇👇👇
