Co-op Live celebrates International Day of Sign Languages
Today marks the International Day of Sign Languages, a global celebration of the importance of connecting communities, promoting inclusion, and recognising Deaf culture.
At Co-op Live, accessibility is never an afterthought, but at the very core of how we’ve designed the UK’s largest live entertainment arena. We strive for every fan to feel welcome and able to share in the excitement of live events. That’s why we’re proud to offer a range of services that support our Deaf and hard-of-hearing fans.
British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation is available, giving fans the opportunity to experience performances in their own language. We will always endeavour to provide an interpreter whenever needed, and welcome fans to get in touch to request the service ahead of the show. We
Captioning services, ensuring lyrics, spoken word, and announcements are accessible to those who prefer or rely on visual text.
Assistive listening technology is also fitted throughout the arena, so eligible fans can enjoy crystal-clear sound wherever they’re seated. The venue has a fully accessible hearing loop that can be accessed from anywhere within the venue bowl. Hearing loops can be loaned from Fan Services on Level 1, so contact us four weeks in advance so we can reserve one for you on your event.
And we have dedicated accessible viewing areas to provide the best possible live experience in a safe and welcoming space.
Beyond physical access, we’re also committed to building awareness and celebrating the contribution of the Deaf community. Live music is about shared energy and emotion, and sign language adds a powerful visual dimension that brings performances to life in new ways.
By marking International Day of Sign Languages, we’re shining a spotlight on the importance of communication without barriers. We’re proud to be part of a movement that champions inclusion, celebrates diversity, and ensures that the joy of live entertainment is something everyone can experience.
